Choosing a Theme
Proverbs 16:3
“Commit your activities to the LORD, and your plans will be achieved.”

This week, we will begin making one of the biggest decisions for our yearbook: choosing our theme!
A yearbook theme helps connect the entire book together. It influences the colors, fonts, page designs, photography, graphics, and even the way we tell the story of our school year. Our goal is to choose a theme that represents our co-op and can be carried throughout the entire yearbook.
In Class:
- Review what we have learned so far
- Take our yearbook team photos
- Share and discuss your three theme ideas from last week's homework
- Look for similarities between everyone's ideas
- Discuss which themes best represent our school year
- Vote as a class to select our final yearbook theme
- Begin defining our theme's:
- Color palette
- Fonts
- Graphic/design style
- Photography style
- Overall feeling or mood
Activity: Theme Vote
Each student will have an opportunity to share their ideas. After discussing the strongest ideas as a class, we will vote to choose our official yearbook theme.
Remember, once we select our theme, it should guide the design of the entire yearbook, not just the cover.
Homework: Find Inspiration
Find 3 inspiration images that fit our new yearbook theme. Your images can show ideas for colors, typography, layouts, graphics, photography, or other design elements.
Be ready to explain what you like about each image and how we could use that idea in our yearbook.
