Surreal Composites

Ephesians 3:20

“Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think...” HCSB

Today we are creating scenes that go beyond what we normally see or expect. We can imagine some pretty amazing things, but Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that YAH is able to do far beyond anything we could ask or imagine. Our creativity has limits, but His power does not.

What Is a Surreal Composite?

A composite is an image made by combining two or more photos into one new image.

A surreal composite takes that idea further. It creates a scene that looks believable, even though it could never happen in real life.

Imagine:

  • A giant person sitting on top of a house
  • Someone standing inside a coffee cup
  • A huge cat walking through a city
  • A person holding the moon
  • A tiny person standing on a keyboard

Today, you will use Photoshop to make the impossible look possible!

Focus: Blending Images Together

A good composite should look like all the objects belong in the same photograph. You will practice skills you have already learned, including selections, removing backgrounds, layers, moving objects, and resizing objects.

You will also learn to pay attention to lighting, size, position, and perspective.
