Buttons + Links
This week, you will learn how to help visitors move around your website using buttons and links.
Think of your website like a building. Your pages are different rooms, and buttons and links are like doors that help visitors get where they need to go. A good website should make it easy for visitors to know what to do next.
Matthew 5:16
“Let your light shine before others.”
Matthew 5:16 reminds us to let our light shine before others. Your website is another opportunity to show your creativity, skills, business, or message to others.
As you design, think about what you want visitors to see and where you want to guide them. Your website should have a clear purpose.

What Is a Call-to-Action Button?
A call-to-action, also called a CTA, is a button that encourages your visitor to take an action.
You may have seen buttons that say:
- Learn More
- Contact Me
- Shop Now
- View My Work
- Book Now
- Get Started
The words on your button should clearly tell visitors what will happen when they click it.
Instead of using a button that simply says “Click Here,” try something more specific like “View My Portfolio.”
Linking Your Pages
Your website probably has several pages, such as:
Home | About | Services | Gallery | Contact
You can create buttons that connect these pages together.
For example, your Home page could have a button that says “Learn More About Me.” When someone clicks it, the button takes them to your About page.
You could also have a “Contact Me” button that takes visitors directly to your Contact page.
Before you finish, always click your buttons yourself to make sure they go to the correct place.
Designing Good Buttons
Your buttons should be easy to see and easy to understand. Make sure the text is readable, the button is large enough to click, and its style matches the rest of your website.
Do not fill your page with too many buttons. Use them where they help guide your visitor toward something important.
In-Class Activity: Add Your Buttons
Open the website you have been building in Divi 5.
Add at least two buttons to your website. Each button should have a clear purpose and link somewhere useful.
After adding your buttons:
- Change the button text.
- Add the correct link.
- Customize the button so it matches your website.
- Test the button to make sure it works.
- Check how it looks on both desktop and mobile.
Homework
Add at least 2 working buttons to your website.
Both buttons must have clear text and lead somewhere useful. Before submitting your work, test both buttons to make sure they work correctly.
Send me the link of the page where I can find the link.
